iPad Pro

The iPad Pro is Apple's biggest, fastest and most expensive iPad ever. It's very good, but not a total replacement for your laptop.

Slim and incredibly light ; Awesome screen and speakers ; Excellent performance ; Good on-the-go typing experience

Not as portable as other iPads ; Most will still need a proper computer ; No iOS optimisations for the big screen

The iPad Pro has a large, 10,307mAh battery that Apple claims will last for 10 hours. That’s the same figure quoted for the iPad Air 2 – and, based on my testing, is pretty much on the money.

Apple iPad Pro (12.9-Inch, 2017)

Apple's 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablet is more like a full-scale iOS laptop—which is great if you can get all of your work done in iOS applications.

Laptop-level power. Surprisingly light. Plenty of screen real estate.

Expensive. Apps don't quite complete most workflows.

But by and large, most iPad buyers should go for the $329 non-Pro model. If you just want a thousand-dollar ultraportable laptop, meanwhile, should take a look at the Razer Blade Stealth, the new Microsoft Surface Laptop, and the older, but still...

iPad Pro 12.9 review: a great iPad, one I won’t buy

But maybe iOS 11 will change my mind

Improved display ; Powerful processor ; Better camera ; Large screen ideal for pros and creative types

Expensive ; Accessories not included ; PC power, but with the limitations of a mobile OS

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) Tablet Review

Big Player. The Apple iPad Pro 12.9 has been updated not only with a faster SoC but also with an improved camera and display. We haven't found much to criticize, but the giant amongst its brethren is not a full replacement for a laptop just yet.

great display ; high-quality workmanship ; decent speakers ; fast long-range Wi-Fi ; fast CPU ; decent battery life

no support for Galileo-GNSS ; pressure-sensitive case ; only one year of warranty ; despite claims to the contrary, display does not support P3 ; storage slower than with the predecessor ; long charging time ; no quick charge

On paper, the iPad Pro 12.9 is no more than a larger iPad Pro 10.5, but in real-life it is quite a bit different in several aspects. The well-calibrated display with its exceptionally accurate color accuracy in particular was very impressive; the...

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 Review

Now it's time for the biggest iPad around to get a much appreciated upgrade, as Apple re-works the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with an updated screen, new processor, more powerful camera, and more...

Beautiful display image quality ; Bass-rich, immersive sound ; Day-long battery life ; Laptop-competitive performance ; Great camera for when you need it ; Split-screen works better than on 10.5-inch model

Just too big for casual tablet usage ; With accessories, starts getting extra expensive, fast ; iOS still doesn't feel particularly optimized for tablets ; Audio recording when shooting video doesn't sound great ; Lengthy recharge times

Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2017) review: More pricey, but practically perfect

The best tablet you can buy, with a better screen, faster internals and now iOS 11 – a stunning piece of hardware

The original Apple iPad Pro was a stunning machine and despite the relatively minor upgrade, the 2017 model is simply incredible. It’s faster, feel more fluid in use than before and remains every bit as good as the original.

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 2017 review

  (Rating Hidden)

Apple's latest iPad is a large 12.9-inch model, replacing the previous model from 2015. The improvements on the box add up to a faster processor, and in theory, a brighter screen. Otherwise though, little has changed. Does the additional speed and...

Enriching or too expensive? The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is a tricky thing to rate

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is a brilliant computing device if your workflow can live with its compromises. But do you really need one?

My gut feeling is that the iPad Pro will become the device it aspires to be when iOS 11 rolls into town. For now, it remains a beautifully designed compromise, meaning it still represents the 2-in-1 market’s struggle to define itself. The large size...

iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) vs Surface Pro 5: Which is the best laptop replacement?

We weigh up the specs, design, features and price of the iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) and Surface Pro 5 (2017), to help you decide which is the best laptop-replacement tablet on the market right now

They're widely marketed as pretenders to the same throne - the laptop-replacement tablet of choice for business and creative users - but the iPad Pro and Surface Pro 5 are quite different in a lot of ways.

Review: Apple's 2017 12.9" iPad Pro gains feature parity with its smaller sibling

Staggered launches of the first generation of iPad Pro tablets left the larger 12.9-inch model in an awkward position, lacking key professional-grade features like always-on Hey Siri and a color balancing True Tone display. Apple has rectified that...

Choosing between the 10.5- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro is a much simpler choice in 2017, thanks to the fact that Apple decided this go around to include the same hardware in both.
