Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall DLC review: Mostly brilliant

The whales are the stars of The Knife of Dunwall, Dishonored's first story-led DLC. As Corvo we'd catch glimpses of them in the distance, strung up on huge ships; here, playing as master assassin Daud, we finally see the great beasts up close - and...

Two great missions ; Fun new powers and gadgets

One not-so-great one

Dishonored is best described as a mixture of Elder Scrolls, Bioshock, Half-Life and Assassin's Creed. This is not knocking as unoriginal, this is the video game equivalent of musician Beck cribbing every musical genre he could get his hands on. Each...

Great atmosphere ; Multiple paths through levels makes it feel open despite the linear structure ; Great story

Forcing you to use your powers sparingly seems like a design mistake. It may be an attempt to reinforce the "morality" but it feels like there should have been more powers for incapacitating rather than killing enemies

What makes new IP so exciting is the original nature of stories, Dishonored takes a lot from other games but creates something wholly original. It doesn't seem like this will be another entry on the annual release schedule, and I hope Arkane lives up...

Nobody seems to speak in a Cockney accent in Dunwall, not even the City Watch. It's not a disappointment that they don't but the city is such a lovingly-crafted environment echoing Victorian London (and sometimes Terry Pratchett's Ankh-Morpork) that it...

There is so much more that can be said about Dishonored but it would either sound like gushing or result in heinous spoilers. All we can add is this, if there ever was such a thing as a must-play game of the year then, without a doubt, Dishonored fits...

Dishonored (Xbox 360)

The bed-chambers of Buckingham Palace must be copiously supplied with blindfolds!

Is it worth your shekels? Well if you like stealth-action and can’t be arsed with pretentious modern fare like Splinter Cell be sure to grab a copy as soon as otherwise hang on until the inevitable post-Christmas price drop.

In Dishonored, you take the role of Corvo Attano, the former bodyguard to the Empress. When she is killed and her daughter kidnapped, you must

Dishonored is a really great video game. I enjoyed the gameplay a lot and the story and world are interesting, if occasionally flawed. It’s certainly one of the more interesting games released this year and everyone should at least consider picking it up.

As Samuel the boatman motors me closer to the makeshift dock that serves our hideout at the Hound Pits Inn, I notice a crowd has gathered, eager to find out whether I was successful in my mission or not. It's not a large crowd because we're not a large...

Dishonored mixes the dystopic worlds of Rapture and City 17 with the assassination-for-a-cause gameplay of Hitman and Assassin’s Creed to create an experience that actually feels more original than it probably should have. Both the setting and the...

Dishonored (Xbox 360 / PS3) Review

Welcome Dishonored, the "thief-like" assassination simulator that gives the power back to the player. Dark, mysterious, and razor-sharp deadly - this one is something special.

Freedom in how you complete each mission ; Interesting setting and plot filled with complex layering ; Satisfying combat (if you actually get into a fight) ; Constant feeling of progression and reward ; Great stealth game, for those who like lurking in...

The plot might not grab everyone ; Gameplay might be too easy or slow, if you're looking for a straight up shooter ; Leaves you wanting more... oh wait, is that a good thing

Dishonored is an interesting creature that rewards the player around every turn. This first-person stealth-based tale freshly gives the player freedom to complete each objective without feeling too restricted. Dishonored is a thinking-mans game, a...

Bethesda's publishing record, outside of The Elder Scrolls, has been less than stellar. Being shown a new game featuring The Elder Scrolls VI title, up until now, not unfairly been met with hesitation - after all, this is the publishing wing that put...

These are minor complaints at most, though. Dishonored is a fantastic game, a richly detailed world that provides a unique atmosphere are engaging gameplay no matter your preference - be it blazing action or shadowy stealth, or any mix of the two. It’s...

Dishonored Xbox 360 Review

Dishonored is a game centred on freedom, about giving players permission to do what they please with what they have: instead of being funnelled down one linear path. Arkane Studios' latest title instead provides a multitude of options, outcomes and...

A hauntingly beautiful setting ; A great main plot ; Fantastically exciting abilities ; Freedom unlike never before ; Great voice acting from a brilliant cast ; Pushes the genre forward

Corvo can sometimes be a little too powerful ; The maps are startlingly sparse of NPC's
