JBL Flip 4 review

JBL's life-proof Flip 4 is durable, affordable, and perfect for all kinds of outdoor excursions.

Take it anywhere ; Durable, waterproof shell ; Powerful bass response ; Good battery life ; Cool connectivity features

Middling clarity in upper register ; Doesn’t play well with other speakers (yet)

The Flip 4 doesn’t reinvent the wheel – or even reupholster it – but it’s a solid upgrade to an already-strong line of speakers from JBL. There are plenty of wireless speakers, gobs of affordable ones, and plenty of waterproof ones, too, but few...

JBL Flip 4

The JBL Flip 4 is a small Bluetooth speaker with excellent water resistance and a frame willing to put up with plenty of abuse. It's a compelling alternative to the UE Wonderboom.

JBL Flip 4 review

Sound quality isn't flawless, but still a great little worker...

Intuitive design ; Good volume ; Waterproof

Could be more detailed ; Not as dynamic as we’d like

A waterproof wireless speaker with good features and decent sound

JBL Flip 4 review: This waterproof wireless speaker is a winner

The JBL Flip speakers were already really good. Changes to the newest fourth-generation version make them even better.

The JBL Flip 4 offers significant improvements over the Flip 3, including better sound and battery life, as well as full waterproofing. It has speakerphone capabilities and a more durable fabric covering.

Its bass is improved but it still lacks some real bass punch.

A nice upgrade over its predecessor, the Flip 4 is one of the best speakers in its size and price class.

JBL Flip 4

The JBL Flip 4 speaker delivers strong Bluetooth audio from its modest, waterproof frame.

Solid audio performance with rich bass and well-defined highs. Can be submerged in shallow water.

No track navigation buttons. Audio cable not included.

What more can you really ask of a portable $100 speaker? The JBL Flip 4 delivers solid audio performance and can get wet without any issues, making it a pool-friendly, outdoor-ready option. If your main priority is a rugged build, however, there are...

JBL Flip 4 review: The versatile portable Bluetooth speaker

If you're looking for a decent, relatively affordable speaker that you can throw in your bag, take to the beach, in your bathroom, or wherever, the

Good value for money ; Attractive colourful design ; Waterproof and very portable

Getting to ports can be tricky ; Sound balance isn't great at high volumes

If you're looking for a decent and relatively affordable speaker that you can throw in your bag, take to the beach, or wherever, then the JBL Flip 4 is a convenient solution. At the right volume it delivers decent sound that can fill small/medium size...

JBL Flip 4 review

A life-friendly speaker that doesn't skimp on sound

Decent, rugged design ; Reasonable price tag ; Plenty of bass

Underwhelming mid-range sound ; Slightly basic looks ; Boring colour options

The JBL Flip 4 is a robust, affordable Bluetooth speaker, and one that’s comfortably supplying sounds to all elements of your life. While the speaker might be punchy, deficiencies in the mid-range stop it being an instant must-buy. Bringing bluntness...

JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth speaker review: Better-than-expected sound in a compact, waterproof enclosure

$100 isn't chickenfeed, but this small speaker sounds like it should cost a lot more.

Sounds great with all kinds of music ; IPX7 water resistance ; Two can be configured as a stereo pair

No AC adapter included ; No track forward/back controls

JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth speaker Review

Promising waterproof operation, a rugged, rubberized build, and the ability to deliver hours and hours of party-fueling tunes, the JBL Flip 4 sure looks like it hits all the notes we're looking for. Does the portable speaker meet all its potential?...

Water-resistant, rugged (and colorful) design ; Good sound quality, decent volume output ; Voice-assistant support a nice feature ; Battery-life indicator keeps you ahead of recharges

Bass could use a little more “oomph” ; Extra JBL Connect+ features have limited compatibility ; Can't use voice-assistant button and pause button simultaneously
