Sony MDR-XB950N1 Extra Bass Headphones review

Too much love for the low-end

Comfortable ; Fun with bass-heavy music ; Long battery life

Rolled off highs and recessed mids ; No multipoint pairing ; No auto play/pause

The Sony MDR-XB950N1 is a fun-sounding headphone that emphasizes bass above all else. If all you want is skull-rattling bass, you’ll love them. However, if you want a fully featured headphone that excels in all genres, you should look elsewhere.

Sony MDR-XB950N1

For the price, Sony's wireless MDR-XB950N1 headphones deliver laudable noise cancellation and strong wireless audio with adjustable bass response.

Exceptionally powerful bass that can be adjusted using app. Good overall audio performance. Solid noise cancellation. Includes cable for wired listening.

Dialed-up bass isn't for people seeking an accurate mix. No remote/inline mic on audio cable.

Sony's MDR-XB950N1 headphones deliver a sound signature that's less crisp and bright than many we test, but avoid sounding muddy when the bass is tamped down. When the effect is engaged, all bets are off. The noise cancellation is quite good for this...

These headphones tick all the boxes

Was particularly impressed by the sound quality even without extra bass, and the active noise cancelling really is an effective addirion- blocks out the rubbish gym songs.

Great Quality

I have been using these for over a week now and I have yet to really fault them. Simply put the asking price is definitely justified for a product of this quality. My two minor issues with the headset is the audio leaking at higher volumes, however...

I upgraded from ZX770BN to these and am so happy that I did. They sound amazing! Whether you like Bass or not the 'Bass Boost' function can be adjusted from the default of +10 all the way down to -10 so you can get the sound you like. The headphones...

My son is very pleased with these. Great sound and they look good and are comfortable to wear and don't need to be continually put on charge- good battery life.

I've used this headphone for 1 month, they are incredibly good. The only thing I don't like is the mic, the box and the cables.
